DTF Printing

Day Printing & Embroidery specializes in advanced Direct-to-Film technology, offering three core solutions to address all your branding requirements:

We categorize our DTF services based on application and material:

  1. Garment-Applied DTF: Our streamlined, in-house service for applying high-resolution, durable transfers directly to apparel, maximizing color vibrancy and print longevity.
  2. Ready-to-Press Transfers (Wholesale): We supply fully cured transfers, giving businesses and crafters the autonomy to decorate a wide range of fabrics on demand.
  3. Hard-Surface UV DTF Decals: This unique technology provides a durable, high-tack, peel-and-stick solution for decorating rigid materials perfect for achieving a professional, permanent finish on promotional products and equipment.

DTF vs. DTG: Why DTF is Gaining Popularity

Feature Direct-to-Film (DTF) Direct-to-Garment (DTG)
Fabric Versatility Excellent. Works on virtually all fabrics (cotton, polyester, nylon, denim, blends). Limited. Works best on 100% cotton or very high-cotton blends.
Pre-treatment Not needed. The adhesive powder eliminates this step. Required for all dark and most colored garments, adding time.
Feel / Hand Has a slightly plastic or thicker feel (due to the adhesive layer), similar to a high-quality screen print transfer. Has a very soft, breathable feel as the ink soaks directly into the fibers.
Durability Very high. The adhesive provides excellent stretch, crack-resistance, and wash-fastness. High, but can fade slightly over repeated washes compared to DTF.
Efficiency Often faster and more efficient for medium to large batches because transfers can be printed in bulk and pressed later. Slower for high volume because each garment must be loaded, pre-treated, and printed individually.

What Are DTF Transfers?

A DTF Transfers are the final product of the Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing process that holds a full-color, high-resolution design backed by a layer of white ink and a powdered adhesive.

They are essentially pre-made digital transfers that are ready to be applied to a garment using a heat press.

When you purchase a DTF transfer, you are receiving the fully printed film, which has already gone through the complex steps of printing, powdering, and curing.

How You Apply a DTF Transfer

The primary benefit of a DTF transfer is that it makes the decoration process extremely simple for the user—all you need is a heat press (or sometimes a high-quality iron):

  1. Pre-Press: Heat the garment (like a t-shirt or hat) on the heat press for a few seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
  2. Position: Place the DTF transfer on the garment with the printed side (the side with the white backing) facing down.
  3. Press: Apply heat and medium-to-heavy pressure for a short duration (usually 10-15 seconds) at the recommended temperature (typically 300-325 F)
  4. Peel: After allowing it to cool slightly (or completely, depending on the film), the clear carrier sheet is peeled away, leaving the vibrant, flexible design permanently on the fabric.

Key Advantages of Using DTF Transfers

  • Ultimate Versatility: They work reliably on almost any fabric type, including cotton, polyester, cotton/poly blends, nylon, and even tricky materials like leather.
  • No Equipment Needed (Except a Press): Small businesses, crafters, and individuals can order the transfers from a supplier and apply them without needing to purchase an expensive DTF printer.
  • Excellent Durability: The prints are highly flexible, stretchable, and resistant to cracking or fading even after many washes.
  • Vivid Color: They maintain the brightness and detail of digital artwork on light and dark garments alike.

What Is UV DTF Transfers?

UV DTF Transfer is essentially a premium, permanent, peel-and-stick decal that can be applied to almost any hard, smooth surface without needing a heat press or oven.

It's often referred to as a "sticker," but it is much more durable and resistant to scratching, water, and fading than a conventional vinyl decal.

UV DTF has become a game-changer for businesses that customize hard goods because it eliminates the need for expensive, specialized equipment (like jigs for printing directly on mugs or complicated screen-printing setups).

  • Drinkware: Full wrap designs for tumblers, glass cans, mugs, and water bottles.
  • Promotional Items: Phone cases, keychains, pens, acrylic awards.
  • Signage & Labels: Durable, high-quality logos for metal, wood, or plastic signs and packaging.

Key Differences from Regular DTF

Feature UV DTF Transfers Regular DTF Transfers
Primary Use Hard, non-porous objects (tumblers, glass, metal, plastic, wood). Soft, flexible fabrics (t-shirts, hoodies, canvas bags).
Ink Type UV-Curable Inks (Hardened by UV light). Water-Based Pigment Inks (Cured by heat).
Adhesion Strong Adhesive/Glue Layer baked onto the ink. Adhesive Powder that melts into the fabric under heat.
Application Peel and Stick — no heat press required. Requires a Heat Press to transfer to the fabric.
Finish Glossy, vibrant, and slightly raised (like a high-end decal). Soft, flexible, and matte (blends into the fabric).
Durability Excellent scratch and water resistance for hard goods. Excellent wash and stretch resistance for apparel.
